Ethical Use Policy for the Bayard Corpus

1. Introduction

This Ethical Use Agreement ("Agreement") governs the use of the LGBTQIA+ Research (or “Bayard”) Corpus ("Corpus"), made available by Weaver Laboratories Incorporated ("Provider"). By accessing and using the Corpus, users ("Users") agree to comply with the terms outlined herein, which are designed to ensure the Corpus is used in a manner that is respectful, ethical, and supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community.

2. Purpose of the Corpus

The Corpus is intended for academic research, educational purposes, and advocacy efforts aimed at advancing understanding and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. It is provided to assist researchers, educators, and advocates in conducting work that contributes positively to these fields.

3. Permitted Uses

  • The Corpus may be used for academic research, educational activities, and non-commercial projects that aim to promote understanding, equality, and inclusiveness of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
  • Users are encouraged to use the Corpus to produce scholarly articles, educational materials, and public presentations that align with the purpose of advancing LGBTQIA+ rights and understanding.

    4. Prohibited Uses

    • Commercial Use: The Corpus may not be used for commercial purposes or monetary gain.
    • Harmful Use: Users shall not use the Corpus to create, promote, or disseminate any content that is discriminatory, harassing, or harmful to members of the LGBTQIA+ community or to propagate stereotypes.
    • Political Misuse: The Corpus must not be used to support, promote, or disseminate political agendas that oppose LGBTQIA+ rights or spread misinformation and disinformation about the LGBTQIA+ community.

      5. Attribution and Citation

      Users must provide appropriate attribution to the Provider when using or referring to the Corpus in any publications, presentations, or educational materials. Citations should follow standard academic practices and include the title of the Corpus, the Provider, and the URL or other reference where the Corpus can be accessed.

      6. Access and Revocation of Use

      • Access to the Corpus is granted on a discretionary basis and may be revoked by the Provider at any time should Users breach this Agreement.
      • The Provider reserves the right to require registration or other forms of user verification to access the Corpus, to ensure compliance with this Agreement.

        7. Reporting and Enforcement

        • Users are encouraged to report any misuse or violations of this Agreement to the Provider.
        • The Provider reserves the right to take appropriate action against Users who violate these terms, including revoking access to the Corpus and pursuing other remedies as necessary.

          8. Changes to the Agreement

          The Provider may update or modify this Agreement at any time to reflect changes in legal or regulatory requirements, or to improve the clarity and effectiveness of its provisions. Users are expected to review the Agreement periodically to ensure continued compliance.

          9. Agreement to Terms

          By accessing and using the Corpus, Users indicate their full and unconditional agreement to these terms. Users who do not agree to these terms should not access or use the Corpus.
